Though many of you know me since I have filled in many times for Fr. Satheesh, I would like to introduce myself formally. I was born the youngest of eight siblings in Tamilnadu, the southern part of India. Amalorpavanathan (shortened to Amal) means "Immaculate Nathan" in Tamil, my native language. As with Fr. Satheesh, I belong to the Catholic religious order of the Servants of Charity. I began to discern my vocation for the Servants of Charity after completing 10th grade. I graduated with a BA in history and made my first religious vows in 2005. I completed my theology at the Lateran University and then received my master's in theology at the Gregorian University, both in Rome. I returned to India for my priestly ordination in 2013 and served in a minor seminary there. Since 2016, I have served as a Spiritual animator at St. Louis Center in Chelsea, MI. In the same week that I defended my doctoral dissertation at Madonna University in Livonia, I was assigned as pastor of Fatima. In my ten years as a priest, Fatima will be the first parish where I will be a pastor. Meanwhile, I will continue as a spiritual animator at St. Louis Center. With trust in God’s grace and your support, I firmly believe that acting as God’s instrument to serve His people, I can effectively meet the spiritual needs of all the Faithful who worship the Lord and seek His compassion and mercy through the sacraments as members of Our Lady of Fatima.
